An individual who spiked treats with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention before a further hearing on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were found, and his stepson contacted the police about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The prosecutor said the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police again.
She stated Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
