Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.
